1.   I want to place an ad for my car what are my options?

It's easy to get your ad onto Sellmicar, simply register free confirm your email then you can login and submit your ad. Not much typing to do a lot of it is click and select. It's usually a good idea to pre-prepare your ad title and details so you can just copy and paste them into your ad, makes thing a lot faster. If you don't like the ways your ad looks you can always log back in and change it anytime you like.

2.   When will my ad appear on Sellmicar?

If you have selected a Paid ad package and have paid online then your ad will appear immediately. If you selected a FREE option or have paid by cheque all ads go through an approval process and will appear usually within 24 hours. The display time starts from the approval date and time.

3.   There are lots of car classifieds website why should I use Sellmicar?

Sellmicar is aimed at the private seller to make things a little easier and faster and offer a FREE classifieds facility. We also try and cater for all other vehicular types like motorcycles, caravans, boats, buses and even new and used parts and accessories all in one website rather than flit about from one website to another. The emphasis will always be aimed at the private seller. Unlike some of the other classified auto websites out there which perhaps cater for the dealer first. The dealer is catered for in Sellmicar as you can probably see and we encourage everybody to check dealers out as they often have a good selection of cars available.

4.   Why is there always a lot of banner advertising in websites like Sellmicar?

The time, effort and cost of running a website like this one is supported by the revenue generated from banner advertising. Almost all websites advertise in some shape or form. However, Sellmicar will NOT allow the use of popups. Popup advertising, we think, is intrusive and annoying so we don't use them we only use banner ads and text ads, they may appear on the left, top and bottom or within articles of the WebPages. Banner ads can be quite useful if used properly. We can advertise a banner in a relevant category so that when visitors are browsing they can only see banners that are relative to the category they are browsing. No point in advertising high heeled ladies red shoes in a motorcycling used spares category eh! well ok, only they come with fishnet stocking as well.

5.   How do I find the vehicle I want?

You can either use the Quick Search on the front page or use the Advanced Search page. You can refine your search using the dropdown options.

6.   What happens when my ad expires?

There are many automated emails built into Sellmicar one of which is the 'About to Expire' reminder. When you get this email you can simply click on the included link to go directly to Sellmicar and renew your listing. Automated email reminders are set to 2 days prior to expiry. If you do not respond to your renewal reminder your ad will naturally expire and be removed automatically from the listings but not deleted. You can always renew after it has expired to get your ad re-included in the listings again.

7.   What is a Featured Ad?

A featured ad is displayed on the left hand column underneath the Quick Search facility. Your featured ad will rotate with other Featured ads to ensure that everybody's featured ad appears on the front page, the best place to be! You can always select 'Featured' from your account on any ad that you are currently running.

8.   What happens when I have sold my Car?

You can place a SOLD image over your car ad to let people know that it is sold and stop all the phone calls still coming in. It saves you having to tell people "sorry the car is sold".

9.  How do I pay for my ads?

We use PayPal to process online payments, you can use your Credit Card through PayPal as well as your own PayPal account. We also accept cheques, but this may take some time to get your ad approved.

9.  I can't upload my photos!

If you cannot upload your photos it may be that the size is incorrect.

Photos need to be a maximum width of 800px and a height of 600px as well as a maximum file size of 150kb. In windows you can use 'Paint' to reduce the size of your images.

On Windows Xp right click on your image and select Open With. Then select Paint if you can see it on the list, if not you will have to go looking for it on your PC. When opened in paint press Ctrl+W. This should open the Image Stretch & Skew option. Alter the Stretch % to a smaller size but make sure they are same e.g. 50% and 50% to maintain proportion.
